I have looked at a few old threads for a MBC install. Most of the installs mention a rubber grommet that is behind the battery. On my 1986 951 I don't see this grommet. I would like to install the MBC in the glovebox instead of the engine bay. I don't want to drill a hole to run the hoses is there another spot that would be good to run them?

I ran mine in via the main electrical harness, but I realize that's probably not what you want to do.

I couldn't find the grommet at first, either. I'd look closely again. It's pretty high up behind the battery.

Do you have a pic of the hoses where they run through the firewall? I could run my hoses through the main electrical harness. I just don't want any water coming in.

Nope. Just don't make the hole super big. I ran them thru the same holes I had my original vacuum lines run thru for my MBC. When I took everything out, I decided to go a different route but I have had no problems after driving in the rain/snow/car wash.

I installed my mbc in my '86 last summer. Couldn't find the mystery grommet behind the battery either. Ended up just making 2 very small incisions in the rubber "snorkel" that the main harness passes through at the firewall. MBC is mounted in the typical center console location and all seems to work very well.

I recommend it so long as you aren't afraid to tackle the tuning process or have deep pockets to have someone else tune it.
I bought my TecGT from Chris White of 944enhancement so he has been helping me tune it.
Expect to learn a lot!

I was working in that area so snapped this picture. I've stuffed the big hole with about as much as stuff as will fit, so was happy to find another small hole above it. It had a rubber plug in it, but it pulled right out.
