Default Odd warning light behaviour - ! only when turning left

The main warning light (!) is coming on when I turn left. Only 90 degree turns and to the left. I do not see any drop off in charge voltage (just under 14 volts on the gauge). I suspect belt slippage, but I do not hear any squeal. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked your oil level?
I not sure but doesn't the warning light also light when you're low on oil?

Are any other lights on? ABS, brake etc?

Hi Fergus, also make sure your brake fluid is up...

There would also be a wire somewhere that's swinging and grounding out on left hand turns. Like a sensor wire... Most of the warning lights are "switched to ground" to activate.

Oil is fine and I don't think that the 1986 has a level sensor.

No

Thanks Van. That makes sense. I will check the fluid level tonight.

Forgetting to put the little cup back into the reservoir also does it.

Fluid doesn't get low on it's own. Monitor carefully.

*edit*

Not necessarily true. If res was not filled properly, I could see as pads wear, the fluid 'gets low'. Be careful if you filled it when you put new pads in! Evacuate some fluid first.

I've had the same thing happen under heavy braking when fluid level was barely at the min mark.

Somewhat unnerving entering a brake zone and have the ! light come on....

Monitor carefully.
Have cardboard under car to see if anything is leaking.... Might be the clutch....
