944turbo fogs to chevy 98 silverado headlights
Hi All,
My name is Oscar, purchased a 944 turbo with some funds from selling my gto's ls2, car sat for about four months while i bought parts and upgrades. About a month ago I started tearing in. This thread specifically is for my conversion from stock fogs to 98 chevy silverado headlights.
I started by purchasing a blacked out set of chevy halo aftermarket lights. 79.99 for a set off ebay.
I started by removing the stock fogs and comparing the lights to see how bad fitment would be. The chevy lights are about 1 1/2 inch longer with housing and all, they also come with a big bracket with adjustable hexes to angle the lights proper. I made the porsche fogs and stock brackets off of the chevy lights into airplane parts. I then cut 90 percent of the fog housing away leaving 3/4inch of an inch along the top of the housing are and 1/4inch on the bottom, i trimmed the fog housing area flush at the outsides and made a 90 degree cut up on the inner side so the lights would fit flush at the outside and slightly recessed on the inner edges making the lights straight instead of angled down heavily. I made u shaped brackets to hold the chevy lights at two points and slotted the bolt holes so i can angle the lights up and down. I will post vids of this at some point it is very simple. In combination with the slotted adjustable hole i made spacers from stiff pipe to close gap between the lights and bracket and give me more or less angle. I also purchased some driving lights to mount higher in the bumper for just in case. I have not yet added any rubber trim around the lights yet. To connect the high beams and low beams merge there ground, lows to low power and highs to the left over terminal, pretty simple. I wired the fogs wires to the upper mounted driving lights. LLLLOTTTTS of trim and fit trim and fit trim and fit, slowly!

Yeah they aren't exactly flattering for the rest of the car.
Maybe you can find some covers to go over them to make them not so attention-grabbing and out of place. I don't really get the point of the lights in the IC inlet hole at all though...

Because it was late and i needed more light and didnt have time reposition the converted headlight they were sitting right there and allowed me to have better visibility, they also conviently plugged into the fog clip.

Something that everyone should keep in mind that is considering doing this modification are laws about headlight height. A number of states, like California, New York and Texas have laws that outline a minimum and maximum height. Most of them have a minimum of 22 or 24" and a maximum of 54".
