Default CV Connector Current Supply?

Anyone know how much current at 12 volts the cycling valve power wire can safely supply?

So it looks like a 10 gauge wire feeding the injectors and CV, breaking into 14 gauge to feed the CV and 18 gauge feeding the injectors. Each injector takes about 2.5Amps and two fire at once (stock 4.7ohm injectors), so 5Amps is going through at any given time. Ignoring component limits in the DME you should be good for 5-7.5Amps safely, possibly up to 10Amps but that may be pushing the old wiring.

The wire is 1.5 mm^2 or about 15.5AWG should carry 15 amps safely. I am not sure what fuse it goes back to though. Looks like it shares power with the injectors.

Thanks Scott. Are you using the wire gauge as an indication of the supply current likely available? Probably a safe bet, though the factory was prone to over-kill at times. Wonder if there are any specs out there on the max draw of the cycling valve?

Thanks and agreed on the wires. Posts crossed -- was really focused on the circuit supplying the current rather than the wires, but agree the wires are probably a reasonable indicator of the current available. Fuse is a good call -- will look at that too...

I'll look around for my old CV but I may have thrown it out (all the nipples had cracked off) and measure the draw. It would probably be important to feed it some pressure since that may cause the valve to draw more current.

Edit: The manual says the internal resistance of the CV is between 18-45 ohm, so that should be under 1Amp.

It's an electromagnet - so the coil will retain some heat as the current goes through.

More importantly to the OP, the cycling valve take an alternating current - so if you're just trying to wire it up to a 12 DC source, it's not going to function properly.

I thought one of the wires was constant 12v an the other pulsed? No?

It would make sense if the ground pulsed. Isn't that how the cycling valve worked? by pulsing? same way as a EBC?

the 12v is consistant as that's where Rogue Tuning get their supply of 12V to the MAF
