Shaved the head too far and too thin of deck surface is my and another builders opinion.

It broke right in half.

I can't say conclusively that it Wasn't just age and fatigue though.

Did you consider valve bounce? If I remember right, you run a custom cam grind. Could be that the springs are not up to the task and the seat just got hammered by the valve.

The cam currently used was a stock part. I did run a custom cam for about two weeks. That was thousands of miles ago though. I understand what you are saying though. I did set the seat pressure a little higher when we did this head. That was a few years ago. It had since been used a few times.

I'm still leaning towards fatigue and that it was just milled too much.

It was initially built for a high compression engine.

In hindsight, I should have just used the stock head until I was done with the big valve head. But.....I was greedy for power and it was sitting on the shelf ready to go.
