Default Cat and back pressure

does the cat provide any necessary back pressure for the engine? mine is shot so i just removed the honey comb but want to make sure it will not hurt anything before i drive it

Cat removed will make your turbo spool faster.

Yes, the Cat provides some backpressure; not it's not needed. If you had an NA the answer might be different, I'm unsure.

The back pressure is an unwanted side effect of its smog job. The motor will make more power without it.
