Default Rear tire size question?

Wondering if I can squeeze 315/35/17's on the back of an 87 944T? If so would a 32MM spacer allow this to happen. Thanks guys.

Edit: I forgot to mention the fender rolling bit and the fact i put VERY few kms per year on this car, its just for looks, I DO NOT race, or track so i'm not worried about the front/back balance throw off.

I far as I know you can. Tony G have use 315s on some custome made 17 OEM wheels. There is another lister on here in a recent thread that also runs 315s on 17 rims- I couldn't find the thread. Take a look at this thread to get some ideas of fitment:
https://rennlist.com/forums/944-turb...ire-width.html

Your 87 would have a late offset hub so it needs a high offset i.e 55mm+ rim to fit properly. Using spacers would only decrease the offset which ultimately would push the outside of the rims to protrude past the outside fenders. Fender rolling which you mentioned you did would help greatly as 87 and 88 non S model do not come with the outside fender rolled. I personally am running 305s on 18X11 and will attempt to run 315s in the near future so I believe that this wide section width will fit, even with 18.

I had some 315s on 18" rims. I had a little rubbing on the inside of the tub. Not bad just scrubbed off the dirt.

Bob, Could you share what offset you used to run 315s and did you have to roll the fenders?

you're right near the limit, but the sooner you change to 18" wheels the better, imo.

Thanks for the info thats just what i needed. So i guess my rims would of needed the wheel spacer if they were the early offset. I've started to clean the new rims/tires up and i fit one on the rear (315/35/17). No rubbing and its taller then my last tire. Does anybody know the make name of these rims in the link? they have some numbers on the back of the rim that are next near impossible to make out. I would like to know what offset they are. I know they are obv, 5x130 BP and 12" wide.

Honestly i love the look of really wide tires, and they were a smokin deal. I'm putting down around 325 at the wheels. I look at the car more then i drive it. Its not for racing or anything.

I will have to look this week end. I believe they were 18x10 either with ET an
60 or 65.

As far as rolled fenders, if you don't have them rolled by now what are you waiting for?

Did not know you can use the 10in wide to fit 315...Is this on race compound? One can save a couple of lbs. per corner from not having that extra inch in rim width so that would be beneficial on a track car for sure.

I know without rolling the lips and with CCW 18x10's I am wall to wall with 285/30's (though with no rubbing).

Having the right offset is key to fitting these wide tires for sure. I am guessing you have a pretty high offset like 60? How about rolling the lips and get some 315s under there?
