Default Rim width vs. tire width

I bought new (used) rims and I thought the rear widths were 10, but they are 11. I already have new 275s (Michelin PS2). Do I need wider tires or can I go with the 275s still?

TIA

Assuming your offset is okay, a 275 section width is too narrow for 11 in. wide rim, you'd end up with a stretched look- wouldn't look right on our cars imo. I'd go with 285 at the minimum if not 295s.

yeah, 275 will be a stretch. my rears are stretched so they will not rub too bad. I have 11.5" rears with a 285/30/18. here are a couple pictures.

Ok, so now it's trade 11 in BBS Turbo look rims for 10s or trade new PS2s 18/35/275 for 18/35/285 or greater. Which one?

depends if you want a stretch or not. If you dont have stiff rear suspension, the rears may rub but it has to do with camber, wheel offset, etc.

Dude that's wild, that rear rim, the lip isn't even against the tire,Id be worried that would blow out in a hard corner

The offset is 45 with stock M030/ '89 turbo suspension. It's been lowered, too.

its the design of the tire. but yes, its stretched so its not very good for the tires.

Dillon - That's some seriously wide rims. Doesn't look all that bad actually but at least you've got 285s. With 11.5, 325/335 can be mounted on there- wouldn't that be bad *** if we could do that on turbo s stock fenders?

It's too bad you are in the west coast. I have a set of 295s you could try on- would fit 11 perfectly.

Have you test fit the wheels without tires? Because I do not think that wheel will clear your fenders regardless of the tire you use.

Some have success fitting the 45 offset, though metal persuasion and more negative camber is a must. With a lowered suspension the 65 offset 10" wheel would be best. You could try the 993 and later wide body folks for a trade.

Here is my '89 with et63 11" rear wheels...

My guess is they used an '86 early suspension 951 in that photo.

I picked up replica 996 turbo twist et65 10" wheels off eBay, looked for quit a while though.
