Can anyone confirm this? I'm doing some work in the area (running a larger wire to fuel pump) and wondering what precautions I should take. Just cover it with something to keep fibers from going airborne? I had my dad take a look at it and he said that it's "possible" that it's asbestos and not just fiberglass matting.

I looked at this today as well. Appears to be fiberglass and I don't think Porsche used asbestos in the interior but a confirmation would be good. Can we still buy the part from Porsche? If yes, then it's clean.
