I installed an offset cam key from Rogue in my 951 this morning. As predicted, the powerband shifted very nicely down in the rev range and honestly, it still has plenty of poop at 6.5k. Plenty. Noticeably stronger pulling away from a stop light, I'm at positive boost by just over 2k. Much better with the air conditioner running as well.
I don't have a lot of seat time with it yet but definitely a nice improvement for a street car.
Doing a belt change right now so though it would be a good time to experiment with camshaft timing.
Just looking for verification that I'm doing this right and to add to the thread.

Stock cam key. Crank at TDC.
4 deg key installed. Cam timing advanced.
4 deg at the crank == 8 deg at the cam gear.
This looks about right since each cam gear is 9 deg.
I'll of course rotate the cam gear CW so the timing marks line up before installing the new belt. My key came from Carl at 928 Motorsports. I verified with him before buying it that his 4 deg key is indeed referenced to the crankshaft.
We have used cam timing shifts in formula ford for a long time to move the power up into the higher band. Doesn't add much but if you have 120 hp and I have 122 you'd be surprised at the wheel to wheel performance difference.
But my question is, since I live in California and have to deal two speed dyno smog checks, how does advancing cam timing effect SMOG tests?
