Heat shield - what is this part ?

I'm in the process of replacing a leaky sump gasket on my S2 and found the actual source of the gasket failure. Right next to the exhaust header the gasket rubber has deteriorated badly. If you look at the photo below, it looks like there was once upon a time a heat shield to protect the gasket, evidenced by the 2 bolts holding the remnants of the heat shield (just above the gasket in the photo). Looking through the PET, I'm buggered if I can find this part anywhere. I also tried the 968 parts catalogue. I would assume the turbo would have a similar configuration.
So what is this part. Failing that, anyone got a photo of what this should look like.
PET shows part 944 101 033 04 - is this the part, as in PET it looks like it is mounted on the other side of the engine?
Thanks

Which part are you talking about? The gasket or the heat shield? If you mean the heat shield, some of yours is missing. If you mean the gasket, it's the oil pan gasket.

Yup, that shield should be on the car to protect the pan gasket and the oil level sensor from the heat of the exhaust. I had to weld a couple of cracks in mine but it appears to be holding up. It looks like your shield had a crack in the same place but it spread and most of the shield fell off. A washer was used in the repair to give more strength to that area.
Under the shield in the picture is a oil pan gasket retainer which is not part of the original setup but does add more protection.

If it is available, looks like a $55 part.
Looks like there is a little difference between the 944 and 968 part since the oil level sensor was added in 1987.

The illustration has the back of the engine facing forward. The part is drawn on the right side of the drawing but if you follow the dotted line for the bolt, it mounts on the left side of the illustration. Kind of confusing to say the least.

where else can you buy such a part besides the dealer?

I heard there is a guy in Ca that sells them used. Weld a washer over the bolt hole and they should last the life of the car.
