Default Ball park value of a bone stock 86

White with black interior, 50k on the clock.

Would love to get back in the 951 game, just wondering where the values are now.

Each car is individual. Not possible to give you a value with a real basic description like you have.

However, OmniGLH tried to do it. Here is his post.

I used to have a good link to the guides from Excellence, but it looks like they are charging for that service now. In my opinion, those numbers were very general and not very useful either.

Maintenance and receipts are more important than mileage. Hope this is helpful.

One owner with records... just wondering in todays day an age is this a 10k car or 15k car.. or somewhere in between. I realize the grey area and it's worth what someone will pay, yada yada yada. Just wondering what the collective brain trust would value this type of car.?.?

How about some more detail?

Cream puff concours winner? Belts and water pump done yesterday and maintenance is all fresh?

15k sounds high to me for an '86, but if it's SUPER clean and everything is 100% fresh and up-to-date, it could be worth it....

Any interesting option, ie Fuchs, LSD etc....?

A side note, as I have said many times before low mileage cars tend to have more small issues than properly maintained higher mileage examples. As Omni said it could be a 10 k car in average condition or a 20 k car in perfect shape..

+1

These cars are getting OLD. If that '86 you're looking at happens to have an early build date (like mine, build date was late 1985) then it's 26-27 years old now. It's at the age where stuff is failing due to age, regardless of how much use it's had. Low mileage does NOT mean "more reliable" with these cars nowadays. As black944 stated - I'd rather have a higher mileage car (that's been used and maintained) than one that's sat around most of its life.

Thanks guys I was eyeing the one in panorama.. he's firm at 13k. Looking for a fun addition to the fleet but wanted to stay around 10k. May go the 928 route?? This one has my color combo though

I have yet to see a 944 listed in Pano where I *didn't* think that the seller was out of his gourd with his asking price. I'm convinced that the only people who list their 944s there are people who don't truly want to sell. Wife is nagging on 'em or something to sell the car... so they put it there (it's free to list) so they can show that they're "trying" to sell it. No offers or phone calls? Aw shucks.....

Keep looking. And not in Pano.

Mine had ~27k back in 2009 after sitting in the garage for some time. Head gasket and clutch both had to be replaced one I started driving it again, not to mention fuel pump, fuel lines, etc.

"Ball park value of a bone stock 86"

I don't think a bone stock 944 is comparable to the value of a Ball Park. Stadiums are seriously expensive, even minor league Ball Parks are way out of the 944's value. A little league field would also be a tough match.

I suppose you could try and compare the value of the 944 to a Ball Park Frank, at least the units would be closer in value, I would put the value of a clean 86 at 35,000 uncooked Ball Park Franks.

Best valuation estimate I've seen yet!
