Gotcha That's what I thought at first.. but then, I thought "maybe it means as sharp as string... what kind of string?"

Sharp string = garotte

I just bought $80 of crush washers -- and then first day out spun #2 bearing..... UGHH!!!!

Exhaust didn't leak though :-(

Now I'm trying to decide if I just try to reuse them -- heck I'm going to a two piece
cross over -- so i guess the down side is not that high -- just go back under and remove....
And $80 is the least of my expenses :-( x 2.

Fortunately it only took the bearing and rod with it -- no other collateral damage
but time and $$.

Sounds familiar. I spent 6 months putting my motor back together from a blown head gasket and a total re-seal job just short of removing the pan (because the PO told me the rod bearings were fresh), only to have #2 spin 8 months later. Ugh.

The fresh bottom-end short block is in my garage as of last weekend... time to get back to work!
