Default electrical problem

No idea what my 87 944 turbo doing but, as soon as you start turning on electrical accessories, there is a draw and lights start to dim, radio shuts off, gauges start to bounce, all sorts of gremlins. car runs fine if your running just the radio, but if you turn on the blower motor, wipers or anything else you can tell that there is a draw somewhere. The battery is good, alternator is new and putting out 14 volts when running, checked all the grounds. only odd thing i noticed is that there is continuity between the positive battery lead and block when the engine is off, and goes away when running.

Continuity between the positive battery terminal and the engine block (which is grounded) is a dead short somewhere. if so the battery should drain very quickly whilst standing.
You should start pulling fuses whilst monitoring the continuity, until that disappears. That will show you which components to investigate further.

Well, first I'd do a Load test on the Battery, most Battery Shops and Part House's will do it free if you don't have the Tester yourself. If that checks OK, back to the Grounds, and the Positive at the Starter. More and more often, after 25 years, the Cables themselves are going bad. 'Clark's' mentions that a draw of 46 milliamps is normal with the Car off, mine draws 46 microamps.

Yea sounds like a low battery or you altinator is not working, double check both, then start looking at grounds/fuses
