Driving with Tps Unplugged
Hey guys I have an odd question, the other day I was driving with the TPS unplugged and I was wondering what harm could that cause? I guess since, I have a lightning maf, and map sensor it would drive without it. Found that to be odd. The car drove better without it attached, with it attached I've been getting backfires between shifts and deacceleration (ive replaced this twice now). Unplugged it boosted stronger and didn't have any backfires. Thanks for the help, I'm planning on replacing it but just curious in general.

Unplugged will keep the car from going into closed-loop...
What is the condition of your O2 sensor?
(sorry I didn't get back to you earlier - busy day!)

It's all good Josh I understand... my O2 sensor is two years old, no more than 10k on it, but I've been running rich off and on so it may be reading wrong. If I unplug the O2 it idles higher, around 1300 or so.

That is because you are still using the stock boost control via the KLR & CV. With the TPS unplugged, the KLR will try to keep the car from boosting much.

I think I figured it out... during my excitement of changing my turbo like 4 times in a month I noticed my cylinder 1 intake gasket isn't install correctly it's only on about 1/2 to 3/4 on of the bolt holes in the gasket is completely exposed so I can see it. I bet thats it lol

Usually backfire through the exhaust is due to excess fuel... Possible that you might need to enlean the mixture some, and/or your TPS isn't working properly.

ok I might try that, I changed the mixture to add fuel using the FQS I'll try leaning it by 3%. I really need to get my wideband hooked up. Josh if its through the intake what would cause that just in case
