This guy expects 50 grand for the car?

I would expect at least 50+ high resolution pictures, and every possible part of the car to be in showroom condition. It looks like he took the car out to lunch, decided half way through his sandwich that he wanted to sell the car, came back, snapped a few lazy pics with his phone, and then decided to list it on craigslist.

Best of luck Mr.Raines...

I know the car and I know David Reins as well.

We used t do their web site until he started thinking that somehow I was passing his secrets to Derek Khajavi of Huntley Racing (funny.... both companies are no longer in business). That's around when Powerhaus started to sort of disappear. He got weird....

That car was for sale on his web site 12 years ago. And while it was something special back then, today it's so-so. If it's a real RS block like he says, then the engine is somewhat special. The rest of the car is fairly ordinary by today's standards.

And he had to run a LOT of boost to make that power which is indicative of the not-so-good-flowing top end.

The age of the pics are unknown.

I'd say it's more like a $25k-$30k car (assuming it still looks like the pics and it's now worn out by now).

Back when I started my build about 5 or 6 years ago, I drove out to AZ to actually ride in his car. I wanted to personally experience what he built before I purchased his products. At that time, the car was very "ordinary" from an aesthetic view point. Was it fast? Yes. Was it 50 grand fast? Hell no! At this time he was operating out of his house and had several engines on stands being built in his garage. He had all the items I was going to be purchasing laid out on his living room floor. I believe he was in his "transitional period" at that time. The car looked the same in the pics as it did back then. I do remember he had a hole cut in the hood that the timing gear stuck out of. The car idled rough (cam?).

He was an honest and stand up guy to do business with. His K27/29/whatever the hell turbo he had made was one of the best street turbos I have experienced. He was very helpful on the phone and seemed to know his stuff - until he stopped answering his phone...... And remember, he did build DFASTEST's car....

I think he may be dreaming looking for that kind of money. If he gets anywhere near that price, My car is officially FOR SALE!

No offence but i think the 944t value in the states have gone up $hit creek.. That's why none of them are in good cond. Everyone buys them as a "cheap porsche" then realises they cant maintain it and get worse then sell them off for even less.

For the price of Rolex's car went for or is going for $20k. for that price you could find a reasonable 944t that'll need a bit of work. for 30-40k you could find a mint one.

for a car like rolex's it'll set you back 60k, even this one would fetch a price like that.

$50k will put you in a lot of very nice cars. M5s, Vipers, Fast Mercs....

I do so love 944's, but I do so love Aston Martins as well, and a very nice DB7 can be had for ~$40k.

You know, we are the ones that control the 951 market. If everyone starts pricing their average 951 for 15k, and mint ones for 30k, people will start to buy the cars for that much.
The 928 guys did it, all of a sudden I started seeing clean S4s for 50k. 50k for a S4?? And then 95K for a GTS?

Lets take notes here guys.

Finally someone with a brain

If the market for the 951s went up, you'll see a lot more restored ones then buckets.

Eventually the prices will rise on these cars for good examples. Clean 951's are getting scarce. Most people have thrashed them do to the low price on admission and haven't spent the hard money to bring them back. This has saturated the market with a lot of "needs a lot of work" 951's, and dedicated track cars. Tidy examples are definitley in the minority. I think the prices will start to rise soon on them, although, rather slowly.

I always wondered what "the fastest 944 in existence" would be like. Have to say I am a bit underwhelmed.

Because they buy them as a cheap porsche, get the thrill and thrash and trash it.

Yes, but father time will eventually put a stop to it. Think about it, if a 928 can, then why not a 944? Yes the P-car community dictates a lot of this, but let's just say the guy sitting next to me at Cars and Coffee in his DB6 starts to take interest in my car and says, "You know what, I really don't see these cars this nice anymore" then offers you a dollar much higher that the community would. That's how it happens, then he goes and tells his other buddies with Aston's that a Porsche 944 is a really fun car for cheap ($20k for what we call a $10k car). Aside from that, can you honestly think of many cars that stay the same value regardless of their age if they are in mint condition? If junky Mopars (I've owned a few) can bring well into 6 figure range money, anything is possible I guess.
