Found more mess when I got the head off. Plus I found the head was not o-ringed as I was led to believe. I found the #3 plug was wet, leading me to pull the head off. Here's some pics of the gasket:

I'll turn the engine over and get some pics of all the cylinder walls tomorrow. I did find a scratch ~1/2 the length of the stroke (bottom half) that I can catch my fingernail on on #2, kinda bummed about that:

Widefire hg wont do a difference unless your head and block are o-ringed, is either stock or mls

Some of the head gasket pictures show indentions that are typical of o-ringing. Do you have any pictures of the block, without the head gasket installed?

Yeah, probably posted too many pics but it was late and I was on autopilot.
Hi Bret - good to see you hanging around here again. Yep, still have the spare block, but am considering selling to help fund a Blown944 stroker build. It still turns silky smooooth. I'd like to keep it as a spare if'n I can afford to.
So no point in going widefire if I'm not o-ringed? I need to talk to you about a scarred short block after I get done with this Luis.
I will post some later this evening after work. Neither the block or head appear to have o-rings. Maybe things will be more evident after I clean stuff up.
Hopefully the scratch isn't too bad to run on for a while, and it will give me more info to convince the wife I 'need' to do the stroker. I'm really, really hoping to drive her around for more than a couple weeks without finding another issue after I button things up again. And I really appreciate any/all input - thanks guys!

What were you trying to accomplish that led to pulling the head? Just checking up on things, or looking for excuses to go with the stroker ![Stick Out Tongue](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
If you want any help with anything, BTW, I'm not too far out...

A old qute of yours >
In my experience unless you have a o-ringed head/block WF is a waste no better than stock so the real choice is either stock or MLS, the story about WF being better than stock is just a MYTH
In my experience the normal HG did not like HIGH boost the MLS gasket we put on 2 months ago did not seal even with a machined (flat head) "guess who i got that head from". No issues with the widefire.
However i have used the WF gasket allot longer with much more abuse than i did with the normal HG before it went.
The WF gasket has beefier rings orings or not.
Having said all this i have yet to have a broken a Widefire gasket on my car .. Only reason block was taken apart were the pistonrings and bearings.
