As to it being common knowledge... I didn't have time to do a search. Just grabbed it and went.

Tough crowd..lol

I can already see a difference at idle, low speeds etc as I'm logging as we speak.

it is a good known mod.. very simple to make fit, and a great insurance policy for track cars.

I hadnt heard this either. So since I have a spare 2.5 L water pump and now own an S2 (DD -non racer) any reason why it shouldnt fit if I need it?

thats the other way around.. you are using a smaller impeller on a larger block.. so less water flow.

Yes of course I get that, but if I just need a car that doesnt overheat the pump with the smaller impeller should fit/work right?

Good to know, thanks. I wasn't aware of that. I'll be needing to replace my WP before next season.

Stupid question: did they make any changes from the S2 to the 968 w.r.t. WP?

In normal driving conditions it stays cooler at idle and going down the track last night the temps stayed down a bit more than normal. It was also cooler outside.

Where I notice the biggest difference is driving down the highway. It stays very cold in comparison. This is all with the same thermostat as well. Il have to review my data logs to see exact differences but I do know that I did not need to do any cooling between runs whereas before I would do it. Now I can just idle it between runs dnd get it to 150 degrees.

Keep in mind Sid has a filled block so his car is more sensitive to temperature changes as there is less area to dissipate the heat than that of a stock motor.

Sid's the fastest wrench in the west! lol
