That is a good question, and funny enough is an advantage of having the turbo mounted on the 'wrong side' - it gives a little bit of time to cool the exhaust before hitting the turbo.
Regardless, we will be testing this combo for daily-driving, and on the track (road & drag).

Josh, in your required items list, I saw no mention of a turbo mount. I can't imagine this turbo even remotely mounts up to the stock mount. Is it just suspended from the up/down pipe, or did you guys fabricate a new mount? What size is the compressor inlet, 4"?

Custom mount, these turbos have a pedestal mount to bolt into the diesels.
Josh and I are working on some other ideas with this turbo

Water cooling and oil lubricated
Best of both worlds!

Excuse me, not bolt in but sit on,, it requires some crazy welding on the center section itself!

Clarification - this setup uses the factory engine/turbo mount - but has an "in-between" piece that mates the turbo center-section to the factory mount.

Sounds good can't wait to see how this project evolves over the next few months. Since thinking these turbos would never be adaptable to our cars, I have never priced one. What kind of ball park price for just a turbo? Figured you could save me the time of a search.

Interesting, maybe something similar to the ATP piece for the standard GT series BB turbos?

Even with this piece, the center section must be welded? I have spoke with Garrett engineers about this and was told it is a big No No.

That turbo is really big

Is that plenum an efficient design? I'm not suggesting it isn't, it just looks too easy.

There isn't any welding on the center section. Dave has a pedestal between the mount and the turbo. It bolts to each one individually.

Just performed the search and these turbo's are very reasonable, especially if you roll the dice on a used one. Even the polished powermax brand new ones are not that bad at $1,300.00.

Yep, the turbo itself isn't too bad - which does help keeping a "kit" reasonably priced...
