T04B Too Much Lag for Street Car?

^ sounds good to me, I've never changed it just heard high time frames
I've decided to change the compressor wheel and seal plate, looking at adapting a 58 to 75 wheel, using a similar inducer I should be able to use the same compressor housing or have to machine it. The k27 turbo uses a similar size wheel.

Well I re-did my calculations on the wheel the compressor is a 75 trim wheel which is rather large. I found come TO4B wheels that are 54 and 62 trim and the measurements are just a tad off on the inducer so for time sake I get a T04B wheel around there. The wheel will be lighter which means slightly quicker spool and should still get me at my goal. Lart mentioned this turbo could make 340whp+ so changing the wheel slightly will reduce that peak hp number but should still have good output.
Nope haven't called Evergreen yet, but will do.

I have one mounted in my 951. GT3076R, it spools quickly, makes power at low boost levels, delivers dependable predictable boost as it builds and continues to pull well beyond 6800 rpm. It is good for over 450whp in the 951, 2.5l and this is a fact.

Three Wheelin'
Just so I put it out there I'm not even in the slightest unhappy with my purchase honestly it's a steal, the replica 8# hotside by itself is worth almost what I paid. I will be rebuilding it, I just figure if I should change the compressor wheel or not. I just want to make sure I have it the way I want it because I know it takes a good 6+ hours to change a turbo in these cars. The goal for my car is 325whp which I honestly believe this turbo can produce.
an understanding of what you'd wind up with if you used it as delivered.

I'm going to rebuild it and possibly get a compressor wheel with a smaller inducer, that should help slightly with spool. I feel a 60trim would be the smallest wheel I should go with the compressor housing the size it is.

So what is needed to install this baby? Appears to be oil cooled so good by coolant and pump lol. As far as attaching oil lines would it need all new hook ups or will some of the factor items still work?

I'm not sure about the details on that particular turbo, so I won't comment on what is needed to get that on in place of a K26. When you're replacing any turbo on a 944 that hasn't been removed in a while you're going to want to have new exhaust hardware on hand. Rennbay sells a nice exhaust hardware kit for the 944 turbo.

Hey guys I just acquired what appears to be a T04B Turbo from Lart and I'm debating whether it will produce too much lag for a street car. Lart mentioned spool was at/around 3700 RPM. Here's the specs I've gotten from it:
A/R: 60
Compressor Wheel:
Inducer: 2 3/8
Exducer: Just under 2 3/4
Turbonetics KKK Replica 8# Hotside
Turbine Wheel:
Inducer: 2 1/4
Exducer: 2 5/8
Appears to have 360 thrust bearing, standard journal bearings, overall good easy rebuild, no wear on the shaft.
Any info or input will be help greatly. Originally I wanted a k27/6 which I had and sold so when Lart posted this I knew it was a great buy just dunno if it's to much lag for my need, I usually don't hit 4th gear unless on the interstate.

The exducer is probable 3" and not 2 3/4. Which would make the turbo a 60-1 hifi with a 57 trim turbine. Aka stage 3.
Its actually not a bad turbo. Very common upgrade in the 944 turbo seen about 7 years ago. If the turbo is in good shape I would just add a restrictor in the oil line and have fun with it. Will produce 325 rwhp on pump fuel easy. As long as you have accompanying mods like injectors and MAF exc. Also keep in mind that the stock clutch will slip at around that figure as well. I would also definitely recommend Vitessi maf because of the easy of tuning. Is that spelled right?
