E-Boost Street Questions
My car is back on the road after my last disastrous track day, the main problem being that the stock 02 sensor popped out at the beginning of the day and I figured something was wrong but couldn't track it down. Car runs much better now. Anyway...
The eboost street has 2 boost groups bG1 and bG2 with the following settings,
overboost protection - mine is currently set at 17psi
sensitivity - affects duty cycle and steady state boost level
gate pressure - affects how early waste gate is activated to start bleeding boost to
minimize boost spikes (I think).
Sensitivity - affects fluctuations in boost at steady state (I think)
My mechanic input the following:
bG1 - SP = 25, GP = 8.0, Sensitivity = 20 (recommended starting value)
bG2 - SP = 40, GP = 5.0, Sensitivity = 20
the first setting results in a steady state of about 11.5 psi and the second about 14.0psi with peak boost a few tenths psi higher
What doesn't make sense is the gate pressure for the second boost group, to me this should be higher, like 10-11 psi.
I would think my engine could go up to 15 psi on pump gas anyway - Lindsey built 2.5L with m-tune (planning 17-18 psi on E85). I am planning to inch up the gate pressure and see what transpires and then increase the set point on boost group 2 so that I achieve a steady state of 14.8 psi or so. Does this sound sensible? I will probably email turbosmart as well but I'm interested if anyone here has experience. Thanks.
