Default 86 951 5R LSD Trans Shifter Temp??

When the engine has warmed up, after driving for about 15min, nothing hard just cruising in town sort of thing, the shifter gets hotter. Placing my hand on the boot I can feel warm air and the shifter itself gets pretty hot, not just warm , but kind of "doesnt feel right cause too hot" kinda hot.

Any ideas / explanation?

Yes. You're missing your rubber boot under your leather shift boot.. Mine was missing too. ~$35 from the local dealership. Easy to install.

*edit*

Eh, you know, mine never got 'hot' even without it... Maybe an exhaust leak too? Remove the shift ****, and the leather boot and frame, and see what's coming up... missing your insulation foam there too probably....

You might also be missing the heat shield between the torque tube and the exhaust...

or insulation missing between heat shield and the rubber boot...although generally pretty noisy if missing.

There is foam in there. (once I lifted the leather boot.) I'm thinking Van's comment is likely, that or exhaust leak is also possible... I was affraid the transmission was giving up but it is all smooth and no grind feeling is perceptible.

Good to know, I'll inspect the exhaust in depth next time its on a lift.
