Race seat with head protection

Race Car
if I were to get into racing, I would go with one of these seats as well. I just remember last month at 944fest getting a ride in a pca instructors 1972 911 and walking away sore from the helmet pulling at my neck from all the G's. that ride was one great experience

I have the Cobra. Nice seat. I had to add a little lumbar foam to make it just right. I do suggest you find a car that has one in it and try it as far as getting in and out. You have to lean extremely far forward to get out and with a helmet on, the A-pillar comes into play especially if you have a cage. As far as holding your head and providing support, the halo on these seats do not provide support unless you tilt your head on a 45 degree angle, and that's with a helmet on.

Don't think the Halo seat is marketed to offer support, more to help with big sideways movement in the event of a crash. Used in conjunction with an interior net these will offer a greater level of safety in a bad accident. I should have had one a few months ago and will be adding one of these at some stage. Watching my neck snap around and hit the camera with the back of my helmet still makes me shudder! The hassle of getting in and out of the car is outweighed by the added safety in the worst case scenario.
I'd definitely get one of these types in the pic vs the solid halo. Peripheral visibility with the solid halos is really bad.

jasonlp, you may want to look at the full containment aluminum seats from Kirkey, Butler, etc. Very good head protection. I've never seen one mounted in a 951 that I can remember but it can't be that much different than mounting in a 911 or other car.

Yeah - don't rule out the aluminum seats, I like them a lot. Much stiffer than the fiberglass seats and they are actually quite comfortable. They also come in a lot more sizes so you can get a better fit.
you also don't want to use the sides as a place to rest your helmet- you will pick up a lot of vibration and get your head bounced around quite a bit!

I've always used a Recaro Pro Racer SPG - was very happy with it. If you are interested, I am selling both my SPG and Pole Position. *Both are are expired and both have the Recaro side brackets. I also have a seat brace which you'll need for PCA racing.

You at least using a kneck brace/collar?
They provide some support, are very easy on/off and provide significant head stability vs nothing. Ultra cheap and useable in any car/seat/etc (assuming no hans)

Three Wheelin'
I run a Cobra Evolution GT, and a HANS, can never be too safe.
Also running a dished wheel now with no spacers to get the centre point as far from my chest/face as possible.

I use a Recaro Pro SPG Hans as well, great seat. After a go-kart accident / neck surgery will never race without a halo again!
Rick - what do you want for the expired PP? Thinking of adding a passenger seat to my car.
