I need to get a plug in for the guys at DEC CATs. The waste gate tie-in pipe had gotten pretty sloppy on the unit they shipped me and was preventing the front main flange from connecting. They took the return (I bought it on Amazon through Bavarian Autosport) and I shipped them my OEM catalytic on their nickel!. Then they made a fresh new pipe using mine as a reference to update their fixtures and shipped both the new and my old back to me in 3 days. Amazing service.. Bavarian was phenomenal too. Wish us luck as we are going to for our smog test next week.

Wonder of wonders. My car just passed with the used OEM cat I had put in two years ago (Post #36 and 38). I did not expect any chance of this, and was ready to hit "buy" for a new DEC.

This is interesting. What year is your car? I have a 88 and my limit fir NO at 15mph is lower than your.

Mine is an 89. Your 15 mph limit looks pretty strange. I wonder if anyone else has seen this, or whether there is some definitive source for the limits that apply. 791/730 have been the NO limits on my tests since 2003 except one test in 2009 when the limits quoted in the results were a little higher (also a mistake?).

I live near PEvans. Maybe 5 miles or so. I'm sure the smog test facility used is no more than 10 miles apart.

Geez.... those are really low limits for an '88.

I have both an '86 and '87 turbo. I noticed the limits for NOx are 300 ppm different between the two in an enhanced smog zone in favor of the '86. IIRC the '86 limits were about 1000 ppm. So, far easier to pass in the '86.

I don't really understand how they come up with these limits but do know they are different for each given year.

cas951... I can't see on your image, but what RPM did they do the 15 mph at... Sometimes the tech does it at 1500 rpm... if they did, ask them to try to do it at 2500 rpm... much better NOx numbers with the engine higher in RPM range.

Not sure what you mean by start test vs regular but I do have to go to Star certified facility.

Yes we tried both same results.
What is interesting is my friend who has a 88 turbo (not turbo S) and his max limit for NO at 15 mph is the same as PEvans. He lives just south of me in SJ about 15 miles. He will send me a picture of it yo confirm

STAR facility/test has more steps than regular smog test.
maybe different standards too?

Take your car to his test place (or mine). Same county, your are still good. I would be really surprised if the state of CA has a different limit for an 88 S vs a 88 non-S and an 89.
