Correction: Stock(ish) mounts are $50...

If you want stock (i.e. Genuine) mounts that do not fall apart you will be paying a shedload.

I thought you already had fired it up? Sorry, haven't been paying as close attention to this as I should like. But I AM eagerly awaiting results, since it's probably the route I'll wind up going when it's time to rebuild mine.

Well...bit of a setback. Cometic is leaking at the coolant ear on the head (see below). Not a lot but enough to be a problem. Any suggestions short of pulling the head? Looks like the head missed part of the Cometic boss on the corner of the ear. Cannot believe I did not catch this, I was so focused on the cylinders. Bummer for sure. Found some old posts about putting sealant at the ear during install but my issue appears to be the Cometic boss misses the head? Any input would be appreciated.

I think I am going to start it anyway for a bit and make sure this is the only issue I have before I pull the head.

Weird. Mine looks similar to that. No problems. There must be an angle difference. Unfortunately you'll need to pull the head to fix it proper. Temporarily you could rtv it.

That sucks, make sure there is no coolant in any of the cylinders before hitting the starter. Good luck and keep us posted.

Friend went through the same issue at the exact same spot and fixed it somehow with a local anti-leak product for the cooling system, based on granules. The so-called "magic" stuff supposed to fill holes in radiators.
It did hold well, at least until the Cometic HG completely self-destroyed because of excessive cylinder vibrations.

Did you spray it with rtv before installation?
