Default Quick & East Weltmeister Spring Question

i'm thinking of going with some weltmeister 250lb front springs for my '86 951 and was wondering if i have to use the spacer or not. if i've understood things correctly, then the spacer will raise the car up a bit which i'm assuming is for a slightly different design with the 86 turbo struts. so will the car be too low without the spacer? anyone have pics?

and of course i know the 250's aren't that stiff but is it a definite improvement over the stock springs? currently i have koni sports and front 26.8 sway bar. rear is lowered using the eccentric so i think the front could go down a bit also.
i had originally planned to go with the paragon coilover kit but just haven't had the money or the time to deal with torsion bars to match a stiffer front end.

and car is mostly street although i hope to get it back on track again at some point and i prefer a stiff suspension even on the street.

many thanks

I run the 250 Welt springs up front, no spacer, on my '87. In the rear I have the custom eccentric bolt from GroundControl that lowers it more than the stock eccentric, and I have their rear coilover kit as well with 200lb helper springs to the stock torsion bars. Ajdustable koni dampers all round.

I drive my car to and from track events, so it has to be a compromise. For a race car or trailered track car the spring rates I run would be considered very low. However, I like the compromise and I find it enjoyable on track.

Hey, thanks, what do you think of the 250's? Is it a worthwhile difference or should I save my money for a paragon kit?

It was worth it to me, I got them used off a rennlister but they had never been installed, great price. I like the way my car is setup now, but I don't do a ton of track events, I'm on pace to do 15 this season. If I were to do more I'd go to real track spring rates and likely start trailering the 951.

They sent it with my rear coil overs. I ordered over the phone, they asked if I was doing the install myself and if I was familiar with the rear end of a 944. I said yes, and they said then we'll send you a custom eccentric that lowers the rear more and keeps the coil overs "happier" when working with the torsion bars. Give them a call, they're super nice and know their 924/944/968 stuff.

Oh, and since everyone but me in this thread is from California, the strange looking thing parked behind my 951 is called a snow blower. You can look up "snow" in Wikipedia to get an idea of what I'm talking about.

oh, i see you have an 87. i guess the spacer is only needed on the 86....anyone know why that would be? are the struts lower perches different (lower) on an 86? any 86 turbo people out there with the weltmeisters?

I have question about Weltmeister 250 lbs springs. I ordered them from LR. They seem to be bigger diameter than original coil springs (I am talking about the overall diameter of the springs that is around 5 or 6 inches). Is this normal and will these springs fit without any further modifications? Some posters are using them so I hope someone can help me.

They will fit on stock perches and hats, drop em on like the factory springs, tighten the nut and go.

Thanks. Will do that.

We also just removed OEM TBs to replace them with aftermarket 27mm ones. But we noticed that they are 2 inches shorter. Is this a big issue or should they fit with some minor modifications?

If they're two inches shorter, you have t bars that were not meant for a 944 and they wont fit.
