Default Axle Alternative

So it happened to me, my axel snapped in qualifying on the drives side under the boot. Do I order the VW ones? have we concluded that they are the same part ? I want something that I don’t have to worry about but don’t want to spend $600 each for the Lindsey ones. I only have about 225-240 hp

Originals are up to the task. You'll need an upgraded transmission mount to solve your problem. When I went to dot legal slicks, I broke 4 axles over the course of a few weeks shifting into 2nd gear. A solid mount solved my problem

Some fill their factory ( but in good condition ) mounts with window grade polyurethane you can find in home depot, using plastic carton to box the mount in and make sure the polyurethane sets around the mount.

Once the transmission crossmember is removed, others hammer the metal around the mount down until it totally restricts the movement.

Lindsey racing sells a solid mount, and a semi solid mount.

Some other members have fabricated a brace to the driver side of the transmission ( 95one I think?)

One thing is for certain, if you dont solve the problem with the transmission swaying under full torque, you will continue to break axles on the driver side, upgraded or stock.

I'd also keep a few axles, a jack, and an 8mm 12point socket handy at events...

I would try the VW Van ones, you get a pair for like $120 and a few guys have used them on track cars without stating of issues yet. They said as long as there's been some suspension work they will hold up.

i have solid trans mount and everything else is solid or poly from racers edge. Not sure why it broke yet but I do have a good 3 or 4 years of racing on them.

Anyone sell the trans brace?

A stationary trans mount keeps the CV cages from breaking as easily. The stress-riser in the axle shaft will still break on factory axles under instantaneous torque or wheel hop.

You shouldn't need one with your solid trans mount since that will not allow the trans to move. if you had a stock mount or a poly urethane mount it would help a bit.
