The S2 setup we will see, being that the S2 is a bit more integrated (one ECU), it might be an easier solution to log knock.

Yes, you can allways have fun with data. So how many input channels do you have? Are any of them unused at the moment?

I have found some nice and sturdy multiplexers designed from the ground up to be in the environment of a car, but from what I have seen you do you'll probably just design your own from scratch...

Will I be able to connect your logger to my arduino gauge to show the data on the lcd display in real time?
To put it differently, does it use serial or spi over usb? or does it have an accessible spi or serial port?

I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on this. Thanks for working so hard.

The DME has 8 ADC inputs, and with the addition of the MAP sensor & WBO2, we have used all of them. It is possible to multiplex the inputs... but doing that will have to wait for me to finish some different projects first...

I'll shoot you an email regarding the more specifics of the logger and your project.

Joshua,

What sampling rate can your logger achieve per channel? That is the problem I have run into with the LM-2 which IIRC is only around 12hz - hence log knocking is not possible.

My knock counter utilises a transistor as a switch connected to the knock yes/no 5v pulse feed and reads at 250hz. This sampling rate appears satisfactory to count knock events, but is on the lower side of what is effective. The "ignition rate" is around 217hz at 6500 rpm, so this would seem to be the lower limit.

Of course, we do not know what the duration of the pulse from the DME knock signal is i.e. is it held for 1/2 of a revolution (1 ignition cycle)? We can only guess that the original Bosch Testers (hammers) had a fairly low sampling rate and therefore the duration would have been maximised in the DME circuitry.

Josh, does this mean that when you have an update, you could just send a file and i just press update and i've got the newest update?

WOW awsome man. Great to see a "VENDOR" sharing info and making it public. Unlike some other vendors on here...... When i called josh when i was helping out a lister he was super helpful and did not ask me where i got his product or when or if i was the original owner blah blah blah.

Very nice to see some actual technology and R&D still being done and the best of all not at our expense.

Josh's stuff is pretty top-notch. It also helps that when you talk to him for support, you're talking to the guy that actually wrote the software.

Very true. He knew his stuff. He also helps with other vendor stuff as well.

Actually you can calculate this on your own right now if you have the transfer function for your MAF.

V -> KG/hr -> CFM -> HP

Haha -- Voltage is directly proportional to mass flow rate (either kg/hr or cu.ft/min) which is proportional to HP, in a sense.

Ahhhh...thank you....

Soooo....would 3.35v equate to 335hp?????
