Magnaflo offers some longer (18") cases in larger oval mufflers. I recently went from a 4x9 to a 5x11 muffler which dramatically reduced sound: to near stock, whereas before it was too loud.

If you are looking for a drone killer, the Dynomax VT works perfectly for that. You could run straight pipe to a Dynomax VT in the rear and your car would be loud with no cruising drone

Dynomax VT review
After a week or so of driving, my observations (compared to a Magnaflow) show this to be an excellent solution for drone and loudness without compromising the overall sound of the car. At cruise and part throttle the car is relatively quiet with no intrusive drone observed at highway speeds at all. However, it opens right up under hard acceleration. The sound is not quite as raw as the Magnaflow, especially at idle where it is more muted. I guess this is to be expected as the Dynomax is a bit larger and appears to have more sound suppression materials (thought it is straight through the casing is a bit larger).
So far my only disappointment is with the quality of the finish on muffler. The stainless looks like aluminized steel (I guess I am used to the polished Magnoflow). And for $95 I really cannot complain.
