Default Turbo choice for 3.0 16V

Friend is considering using a T70 on a 3.0 16V (CR 8.5:1) engine with either a 0.58 or a 0.68 A/R P-trim turbine housing.

Yay or nay?

The compressor map suggests this is going to surge big time...

Any suggestion for a different turbo?

Thanks.

Can't go wrong with the good old GT3582R and a 0.82 a/r T3. Good response and good power.

I'd opt for a GTX30R. .82 a/r 500whp. Instant spool.

I'm afraid a GT is out of budget.

My friend is pretty much sold out on the T70 already, and I'm just wondering at this point how it will perform.

Instant spool is the least of his concern, peak power is.

How about one of those Super 75 series turbo if GT turbos are out of the question- plug and play? Or a Holset hybrid of sort...

Considering the T67 is a 700-750 hp turbo I cannot see why anyone would want a T70....
I hope he's considering 30 psi so he will make use of the turbo before he breaks something

Save your money and buy a GT35 HTA .82 a/r. An amazing turbo on a 3 liter.

Please bear with me - I'm not responsible for the choices of my friends!

He is already running a LR Super 75 on his 2.5... Laggy as hell if you ask me, but that's his stuff.

If he wants turbonetics, I wouldnt bother going anything more than T66, I have seen that make 650WHP on a Supra.

Agreed, I am in the midst of a 3.0L and will be going the GT30 route. I assume he is getting new pistons, as the NA version has a considerably higher CR. Did he also re-sleeve?

If you were going a GT30 on a 3L 16v motor would you all go a 1.02 housing?
