Default My 951 went to High School today!

As some of you may know I have a very good kid who I trust (and respect) whom I bought a 2000 6 speed Corvette for (yes, he contributed). He is about to graduate and I have never let him take the 951 out on his own. Yesterday I needed his car and my 951 so instead of my 2000 Cherokee Limited 4x4 (his typical alternate) I rewarded him letting him drive the new CTS-V...he loved it and all the kids were asking about it. So....this morning i tossed him the Turbo keys and said why don't you do three performance cars in three days! I watched it drive down the road, looked awesome!

He just texted that driving it was "glorious"

I'm sure he enjoyed the heck out of that! The 944 was the car I had in highschool.....but I would often drive my fathers Ferrari 328gts, 348ts or Jaguar XJR. Teachers hated me......

Wow, that must have been awesome! The teachers do comment on his Vette, but love him.

I see you have an XJ Limited, me too! Mine is a Limited 4x4 with the "Up Country" package (factory skid plates, rear locker, tow hooks, a little more ride height and tow package).

That's sooo awesome..... When I was I High School I was lucky if my truck was running long enough to make it through the week....or I got a ride from friends.... I took a friends Dad's NSX( it was like a 96 or something) to High School for auto tech ONCE and everyone was going NUTS over it!!! hahahaha

Good values that you have taught your kid, the best thing EVER!!!

Thanks!!! It is a fun car to have. Just getting things dialed in. My goal is 430 rwhp at 17psi on 93 octane. Then I'll add race fuel and turn it up to 20psi.

They are great trucks. Not sure they had the Up Country package in 98.....though I wish they did. Sounds like a great setup. Mine has the NP242 transfer case and factory tow package (plus all the other options like leather, overhead display etc.). Thought I would start with the nicest XJ I could find.....and build it the way I wanted.

Glad you have such a great relationship with your kid. Really speaks volumes -- my biggest fear is my future son getting all rebellious-like and going nuts with the cars/power tools/guns and wind up killing himself. I have such a fear of screwing things up. Fortunately I've got a few years before I really need to think about that nonsense.

How cool. In high school I was definitely that kid with the gigantic turbo (T3/T4) on a Saturn SL2 with a loud exhaust and neon lights in the interior. Oh boy, these were dark days.

Collin- We all have stories. In HS me, my twin brother and our friends were known as the car gang. I had an Eagle Talon turbo, my brother a mustang gt, friends has Supra's, Mustangs etc. We all had bass subwoofers in our cars. We'd race all over town, hang out at Waffle house. Good times.

See, it wasn't until later in life (i.e., college) when I bought my first 951 that I started to appreciate real cars, and no longer felt that the biggest body kit on a civic would be cool. Through college we had a great group of car guys who would go for drives, do track days, etc. This was a much classier group; a bit of an upgrade, if you will.
