You can keep your Mustang or whatever muscle car all you want, it will never have the cachet of a vintage Porsche - I know how a well set up 951 goes and I don't care much about a modern Mustang. For that kind of cash I'd buy an early 70s US coupe and drop in it some Nascar engine. At least it would have some character, and much less plastic than a new Mustang or even a 996.

A well sorted 3.0l turbo in a well sorted 951/968 is without a doubt a special, very fast and competent car in most aspects. But it will never be the fastest street car or the quickest car per dollar investment. For pure straight line speed at a minimum cost there are many other, better, choices.

As most of us would concede it takes a 'special' kind of condition to follow these builds through to completion. I don't think there is a clinical term for it yet...951-itis??
