Default Looking for a serviceable 87+ block.

Update: I found a brand new block in Germany.

I'm sorry for all the cross posts, but I'm desperately seeking a serviceable block. I've had a milling machine mishap and one cylinder was damaged right when the block had been blueprinted and I was ready to begin assembly. I hope someone can help me find an affordable 87+ block. You must be willing to ship abroad. My pistons are tolerance group 1.

Please PM if you can help.

Are you looking for a perfect bore block or one that can be redone?

I know nothing about engines, but it wouldn't be easier to sleeve it or was the damage that bad?

Thanks guys and thanks for the numbers Lart.

The cost of machining over here in Norway is simply prohibitively high. I was quoted a price of having the block Nicasil coated of $3400, and that was before the mishap. As much as I would love to there is no way I can fix my block.

I would like to find a block which is in good enough condition to allow me to use as is with my group 1 pistons. Right now I simply can't afford a block, machining, pistons, wrist pins, rod normalizing and 25% import taxes on top.

DAMN!

I think you could ship it to USChrome, here in the states, have it plated, and have them ship it back for about half that cost!

Get it sleeved. Mine had scoring and it's a lot cheaper than getting it coated with nicasil. I think the whole job was between $1200-1500.

I might have to consider that as a final solution but there are no one to do it over here so I would have to buy a block in the US to have it sleeved. Besides, I've read bad things about sleeved engines cracking.

If you have a bad block, it may crack in the process. But, you wouldn't want a bad block anyways. Here's the finished result.

check out jetcarrier, they ship overseas from NJ. I was in a hurry and got a transmission shipped by airfreight from sunset Porsche to my doorstep in Norway in less than 5 days. Thats faster than if I wanted to send a parcel with domestic freight company to my nextdoor neighbour .

If you find more than 1 block let me know .. i might need one too

Takk.
The price came from JC's site. It will be about half if shipped by boat.
