I'm from Perth. In Western Australia, NT and ACT it is legal to register and drive LHD vehicles if they are more than 15yrs old. All the other backwards states (NSW, SA, Vic, QLD) it is legal to road register and drive LHD if more than 30yrs old. Hence it is worthwhile for me to bring my US delivered 951 back since I'll be heading to WA. Since it's an '86 it will only be another 4yrs anyway until it is legal to road register in any Australian state.

That's true Kev. The only downside is resale. You've got a smaller pool of interested people.
The average wage in OZ is about $55k....
John is right in saying that it's set up to protect the local manufacturers...but there's very few of them left and nothing they produce is any threat to Porsche. They now call it a Luxury Goods Tax.

In Dubai I knew of a reasonable 944 Turbo sitting in a shed which could be bought for about $2500 Aussie and a decent 968 Clubsport sitting behind a workshop in the sun which would go for about $6000. Australian prices are just out of control. Then again try buying a boat, which I am doing at the moment, prices for those are even stupider (is that a word?)! Australians have become conditioned to paying these insane prices for things and the market just sustains itself.

As Pauly mentioned, that car has been on the market for ages which suggests his price maybe too high but a car like that always needs the right buyer to come along. I really hope he gets his price
