Default Sad compression test

My car mostly sits idle nowadays as I am literally on the other side of the world. I am back for 2 weeks and noticed that idle and decel vacuum are both around 15/16 in/hg when previously they were at 18/22 respectively.

Got my regular auto shop to do a service today and a compression test and the numbers are not good. 60/90/90/60. Previously this same engine was around 120 across the board (I forget exact numbers but they were dead even). Question, can having a car sitting around idle for around 4 years do this? My dad drives it every few weeks, does maybe 15-20 miles of highway driving in it. Every 6-12 months I am back and it has 2 weeks of fairly heavy street driving (as in mileage, not street racing).

I think you really need a leak down test done for it to be conclusive. Compression tests can be all over the place.

Try driving more and through some hilly areas. I have found these engines to be very resiliant to ring seal. One benefit of the alusil that I'll miss

That I'm not sure about paully. Having said that, there was a lot of oil on the plugs and evidence of blowby. Car has about 185000 kms on it so I was thinking it might be time for a refresh in the not too distant future. Though with numbers like that I was expecting the car to drive a lot worse than it is. They did also suggest just driving it a lot to see if it came good.

This does not seem right. I would retest after more drive time. Hard to believe you would loose compression on all 4 cylinders. Normal would be 130-150.

Stupid question, what is the theory behind driving it more to see if it fixes itself? How dies this work?

Best possible ring seal after sitting for long periods.

Yes but what has changed while sitting, and how is it 'fixed' by driving it? I said it was a silly question

Went up a mountain yesterday and starting to wonder if my autometer boost/vac is faulty. The autometer shows always shows a bit over 15 in/hg when the dash shows anything from 0.4 almost down to the little stop. Ie it doesn't move when the dash gauge does.
