996TT Calipers on Cayenne Rotors
Anyone have a spare 996TT caliper? I will design and build the adapters for them to mount on Cayenne 330 x 32 rotors using the 87-up spindle/hub....
Been searching Ebay and the for sale section here...nada

32/34mm rotors, with that wide pad with, is just dead weight on a 944.
Thick rotors, is really just for thick/heavy cars.
I bought the 996 C2/c4 rotors, (same as 986 boxster S) they usually take a 318x28 rotor, but I bought a full floating PFC 330x28 for fronts, and.. hmm I dont remember rears, but I have data somewhere.
Just gotto get the time to make drawings for machineing.
Both calipers, rotors, pads are lighter, and more than sufficient, I will run 295 fronts and 335 rears with this setup.
Good thing, is that the 996 calipers are cheap, and widely available.

The Cayenne rotors are much cheaper. At first I was running the Boxster S rotors (318 x 28) and simply going to the Cayenne 330 rotor on the same calipers shortened my stopping distance and I had to adjust the rear brakes on my dual MC setup for even more stopping power....win...win

Thick rotors can also be a function of heat dissipation, which can make or break a street/track or track car. The rotor needs to be able to handle all the energy coming from the pads during braking, so heat doesn't spread to the calipers/brake fluid and even to the suspension parts. You would have better luck removing weight from the wheels than to do so with the rotors.
Thick rotors will just save more energy, if you havn't got proper cooling in first place, heavy rotors will just postpone the problem.
On STOCK rotors/calipers I easily manage 30-45 min raceheats going 100% attack, *after* I gave them proper cooling and srf fluid, before it was hopeless.
Since I will be going widebody + the v8 I want the increased brake size, also weight is down, from stock setup, and the monoblock calipers are great little things.

As for Piston sizes, the Lexus calps are still boss. The 996TT calipers/pads come from factory with deeper pads for the taller sweep area of the 350mm rotors and I've been asked to build them since I already machine the rotor rings.

I have them, one temp fitted to the car, the other caliper and rotor are sitting in the garage.... Bought them last week from the FS member forum... For a song!
Shoot me another pm, maybe we can work something out for a set of adapters or something....

FWIW.. some might be asking why...
I didn't take a picture of the rotor thickness side by side, or pull weights of the pieces to compare, but this should work out quite nicely! and will still allow use of 17 inch wheels!
