LOL Actually that is some kind of stain ... I cleaned that area with gas and most of it came off but residual wouldn't...
That was really dirty there because of the wonderful PS fluid that percolates out of the reservoir

You would replace the rubber in the replated caster blocks, right? I replaced the caster blocks in my 89 and the old ones were visibly worn out.

Oh, and nice pics. I would love to see your car.

No, actually my stock ( 88 caster blocks ) were in great shape (they just looked like $hit on the outside) I got the new ones, in case I go to a bigger wheel ...
Since I had the car in a million pieces again, to replace the oil pan, etc, I bought new ones... ( ya know, " While your in there", syndrome )
The plated old ones, are pictured above on the right...
The rubber is not affected by the plating chemicals ... I just wanted to make sure that the new blocks, didn't have something other than rubber that might cause an issue with those chemicals ....
These blocks are like 150 bucks +
Regards
Ed

Fess up -- you polished them before having them plated, didn't you. Sure look nice!

If you get new dome/hatch lights, they're made in China. I can't remember for sure, but I think the box said "Made in Germany" but there was a sticker on the lens itself that said "Made in China".

OE speakers are made in Hungary (by Nokia). All the Narva light bulbs I bought were made in Hungary too.

Ed, I look forward to your oil pan thread. Seeing it on such a clean car would really make it easy to tell what's going on.

I hope I don't see anything ... It's almost like at this point, I want to remain barefoot and pregnant, in the kitchen

Don't even get me started about the front wheel bearings. PO used Chinese bearings. He replaced one race and managed to mangle the hub in the process. The other three races were the original ones (made in Germany). When I pulled it apart, there was metal shavings all over the place from the Chinese bearings and both hubs were completely packed full of grease all the way through.

I started a thread looking for German wheel bearings but was not able to find them. I ended up with Mexican SKF bearings too. If you ever find a source for German, Japanese or American made front wheel bearings, let me know!

Ask for Matt or Pete and tell them you are looking to do car parts and want them to look like this ( the blocks I pictured )
You will be very happy with their work ... Not only do they do great work but are also very nice and honest guys
Best regards
Ed

Ed,

You should sell your car back to Porsche to be put in the Museum (at a great profit!).

He'd have to un-polish the inside surfaces of the oil pan first.
