I mean, if you're careful and it spins just a little is it really a problem? Who has done this plenty of times without issue? Does spinning the shaft really hurt the valves or can it just damage the seals if it spins A LOT?

I would always just set my impact at a low setting, cinch the nut down with the wheel unloaded, lower the car and torque it to spec or just use the impact if you are familiar with it's settings. The shaft doesn't really turn that much with an impact once there is weight on it anyway from what I remember.

I've done it a bunch... don't think I've caused a problem yet!

I could see that possibly happening if you're using the original porsche nut and it's been removed a bunch of times, because it's just hammered a bit oblong not really a lock nut.

Or maybe just use an impact
