I would love to buy this car. I am looking for a DD, and decided not to buy it because I think it belongs in a museum to be gawked at for years to come.
Every mod (like 3) is reversible and Joe didn't order the car with a stereo, so it is aftermarket.
I will say Joe is straight up, very honest guy who I enjoyed talking to. I still think about buying this car assuming I could get over the guilt of potentially ruining it....

In light of the record-setting auction sales for 924/44/68 cars over the weekend, I'd probably contact one of the international auction houses and see if they would have an interest in representing that car. I bet there is a person/dealer/mfg. somewhere willing to pay top dollar. Personally, I'd leave the factory timing belt on it (just don't drive it that way) since it adds to the ultra-rarity of the car. Who among us would have expected these prices:
• The 1980 Porsche 924 GTP (lot 48) at $385,000, a world auction record for a Porsche 924.
• The 1992 Porsche 968 Turbo RS (lot 60) at $346,500, a world auction record for a Porsche 968.
• The 1981 Porsche 944 GTP (lot 58) at $308,000, a world auction record for a Porsche 944.
Your car is not a rare production model like those, but at 1850 miles, it's pretty rare. See story here:

Also, I live here in Fl. I can do that T-belt job for you. If you take it to the dealer, which you should, in this case. It will cost about a grand. Take it to Brumos if you do.

Hey Guys,
First, I do appreciate the advice and your knowledge. I certainly agree that having the original phone dial rims would increase the value. But that boat has sailed, I sold them 5 years ago and don't think it makes sense to try to track down a mint set. If a serious buyer really wants it back to stock they can find a set.
I probably will remove the bra and take some add'l pics. But that and the door sills should not hurt the value one bit - they are removable accessories, not permanent alterations. Hell, maybe a buyer would like to have them.
Judson951, no problem - I just have been around Ebay quite a while and you want to really be careful with the no reserve, $1 auctions, it can really bite you in the butt.
I may try a auction house, but keep in mind they take a pretty nice %. Hey now that I'm comfortable with the starting price - either it sells or not. No big cost, less than a buck for the extra pics per 7 days.
Take care

Keep in mind that the average 951 is a sub 10k product today, so even 25k is a PREMIUM price, in this car's market.

Take a look at this one....No turbo and not sure if it's a S2 or 2,7 or what it is but it's a prototype for Detroit Motor Show 1988.

Wonder what this would fetch on a serious auction site but it still costs about 39000$

For the record I just bought the ROW car. It's crazy beautiful. 1986 944 turbo with 4,710 original miles. Was originally imported to Wallingford Porsche in 1986 and sat in the owners private collection till 2010 when it was bought by the fellow in Albany who offered it for sale. It did have 3,600 miles on it when purchased then, I now have the car in for full service including motor mounts, water pump, timing belt and various hose changes and brake line change. After all she is still 26!
It does however look at smell like the day it left Germany. Will keep ya posted, getting her ready for the concorse.

I have to agree ..... the sad thing is the same people who own these cars are driving the market down. years ago when I search for my first car the average car was $15k now the same car is $6k.
