I wonder how long it will take him to pull the for sale ad this time. I am sure someone will want to buy it. Are you going to pull it again thinking you can get more for it?

Just put it on eBay with NO RESERVE and start it at 1 buck. You will find out the true value.

What is the true value on it? The answer is the max bid.

Judson951,

I am not going to pull it this time. I had it initially underpriced according to alot of people I've spoken to last couple days. I doubt if you were selling it that you would take your chances on a $1 no reserve auction.

Judson has been on this board a long time like me but I would have to say I do not agree that the value of this car is the max bid it will get in any 7 days spent on the ebay auction site. This is a very very rare car - in all my time driving these cars I don't know that I have ever seen another 951 with this sort of mileage. Given that we have a known sale of a Silver Rose Turbo S with 700 miles that just went for $82,500 at an auction at Amelia Island I would figure this 86 to certainly be worth more than 19k and most likely a lot more than the seller's adjusted price. It really is not a car to be purchased to drive but preserved.

Which is why I keep hinting around about putting the original wheels back on, removing the bra and door sills and taking professional pictures and then listing it in other spots...

Might want to give gooding and co a call and see if they would handle the auctioning. I think you have a winner.

I understand where you are coming from. You have a very nice car and I hope you get your asking price for it.

True, true.

I was just trying to say a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Hey Guys,

First, I do appreciate the advice and your knowledge. I certainly agree that having the original phone dial rims would increase the value. But that boat has sailed, I sold them 5 years ago and don't think it makes sense to try to track down a mint set. If a serious buyer really wants it back to stock they can find a set.
I probably will remove the bra and take some add'l pics. But that and the door sills should not hurt the value one bit - they are removable accessories, not permanent alterations. Hell, maybe a buyer would like to have them.

Judson951, no problem - I just have been around Ebay quite a while and you want to really be careful with the no reserve, $1 auctions, it can really bite you in the butt.

I may try a auction house, but keep in mind they take a pretty nice %. Hey now that I'm comfortable with the starting price - either it sells or not. No big cost, less than a buck for the extra pics per 7 days.

Take care

Pristine wheels are easy to find - these folks would have a set.

Call me crazy but I just love the look of the phone dial on our cars. If there was a company that made them in 18 inch, I'd have them.

The radio option in 86 was a cassette player so that radio in the car seems to be aftermarket.

Hope they didn't cut up the wiring harness when they put in that radio!
