Default Howdy from the 928 section: also a 951S owner.

I've been on the 928 forum for many years, but rarely on this site as I have a few local 951 PCA Racer pro's who have helped me with my cars over the years. My current Porsche garage:

-82 928 5-speed 5.0 Turbo GT2R/S race car
-86.5 928s 5-speed, Turbocharged.
-88 944TS (red on beige/black)
-91 911 turbo (aka 965), with 3.6T conversion

All red, all turbocharged.

My 951S has the following mods:
-Vitesse chip, balanced injectors, adjustable regulator & FP gauge, Greddy EBC & boost gauge, Tial 38, NGK BKR7E plugs, polished-port head on recent top end rebuild.
-Full Boostlogic (custom) 3" exhaust, Magnaflow muffler & tip
-Recently repainted with OE Glasurit Guards Red paint
-Fikse FM5 18 wheels w/black centers
-355mm Brembos (my design) on stock S4 calipers
-My design rear coilovers going on in 3 weeks.
-My DIY Beru ignition wires (avalable through PelicanParts)
-R12 AC system: Ice cold

I love my faster Porsche's but this is my daily driver: love it. My 2nd turbo S & my third Turbo.

In '98 my 944TS had a bunch of Powerhaus bolt-ons: dyno'd 355/345 @ 16psi on pump gas: not bad back then for a 2.5l.

Cheers.

Very nice lineup Mark. I've read about your brake setup on Pelican too. Well done.
Not too hard to guess your favourite colour!!

Color choice: it is what it is: race car & 951S have been repainted OE color: not sure how they all turned out to be red...wasn't on purpose, but I do like Red.

Nice stable! Ever run them in the Texas Mile?

I loved my 86.5 928S. It was only an auto but still quick off the line.

My current 951 is also getting some Powerhaus stuff; 2.8 stroker swap.

i bet you could bring something fun to the party.

I am both 928 and 951 owner. Love the 928 for travel, not designed for racing. The 951 is my Beast. They call it The Hulk. I have so many mods to the car, all I know is it at 15lbs of boost tears up tires. Have to dial the boost down under 15lbs for the road.

I drive that 2x a week, 2222 7x a week: love Austin roads!.

ToddK911: what does your car dyno & how'd you calibrate a 90mm MAF to an existing system? I'm about due for an MAF conversion.

Here are a few of my videos (race car was just started, dropped a valve, so rebuilding...)

Wow! Great collection you've got there. Welcome to the better side of life, BTW.

Awesome 928's, btw. Damn they look quick.

I'd love to hear more about that brake setup........

I worked with brembo to come up with a rotor/custom 951S hat set-up that would work with the factory spaced S4 caliper. That's what I have: 355mm Brembo ring, custom Brembo hat, floating hardware, 6160 cut spacers, modified pads to fit for full annulus coverage: works great! About $1300 total, but the Brembo Gran Tourismo kits start at about 3k, so this is 1/2 the price & the caliper remains OE Porsche.

Fits with a big red caliper as well (with smaller spacer)

Mark

That's a serious stable of cars!
How did you mount the turbos on your 928s? Are they rear mount or in the engine bay?

Hi there Onspeed: why were you in a Z06 at the last A.S.S?

I mounted the turbo mid-ship, in the gap left in front of the transaxle: so it's abou 4' down past the engine. With 350hp worth of 5.0 engine pushing, the "lack of heat" is not an issue: I have exhaust volume, & the car goes like stink. I've had turbo 928's going on 7 years now: would never look back.
-all the heat's out of the engine bay, & the engine bay is simplified, possibly for a front mounted ic (see pic).
-can still run a catalytic converter if wanted.
-plenty of ground clearance on a 1.5" lowered car.
-sounds like a Murcielago on-boost from inside car.
-makes 407rwhp/400tq at a mere 5psi, I usually run about 6-7psi.
-I still get 17mpg in the city, 25mpg on the highway (better hwy than my 951S)

Mark
