I bought the mbc (pretty sure it's a LR unit)

How stiff are these things supposed to be? It takes a bit more force than I expected to lock/unlock it. I was hoping to put it where one of the switches in front of the shifter go but it feels like it might actually break a slot.

they do require force to lock and unlock but I can do it with two fingers and a thumb. I have a metal plate from LR below the radio which seems to work well

I assume the MBC is the black ****? I thought the same until I actually mounted it into a gauge panel and installed it. So long as the panel is properly installed, you shouldn't have a problem. I had mine there for years.
