Anyone have feedback with an NA 5th gear?
I presently have my turbo gear box apart to freshen some things up and add an LSD, so ive been considering using an NA 5th gear set.
Im looking for lower cruising rpms ( 4k rpm@100 is a bit buzzy for me ).
Of course, you could do some math and plot exactly what rpm and speed you will achieve by doing this, but I wanted to know how people felt about the modification afterwards.
With a stockish size turbo or stock, can you still pull hard and pass someone in 5th without having to downshift? Or does it feel really laggy?
Thanks

Um, how often do you find yourself cruising at 100mph in New Jersey?
I'm about to do this swap into my car, but I've got 5.7 liters making over 400ft lbs and over 400hp so dropping another 500ish rpm off my highway cruising is nothing but a plus.
Unless you do a ton of highway driving and want the additional economy the NA gear gives you I'd steer clear of it.

I'll let you know as I'm doing this myself. The gear sets are being sent out for cryo treatment and then WEP processing. It's going to be about 800 rpm drop. But I break the tires loose at 90mph on an entrance ramp. And I've pulled the stock to 194mph and only stopped there because I ran out of grearing. The car would've pulled more. couple that with my upgrades coming, I'm going to almost need it. I'm doing this because a taller ring and pinion was way too expensive. So if you have the power or just like to cruise, I would do it.
