Default Turbo Hotside Coating / Balance?

Sorry if I'm asking a stupid question...

I just picked up a K27/8 turbo and want to have the hotside Swaine Tech coated. Can I dis-assemble, coat and re-assemble without any worries of balancing?

I'm working and the thought just popped into my empty head.

Also can you clean the turbo vanes with anything that won't hurt the internals?

Thanks in advance.

Yes you can remove the hot side housing and have it coated... no affect other than the housing will now be coated..

As for cleaning the turbine... why?

Duh...because it's dirty. (CrazyEddie understands...LOL)

Thanks John... I wasn't positive if removing the hotside would screw up the balancing or not.

The rotating assy (spinney bits for everyone else) are balanced in the center section (or externally with care while being assembled to the center section).. the housings can be rotated, removed, and even changed out wihtout affecting the rest of the turbo!

I just picked up a new turbo as well 26/8 what would the benefit of thermal coating be? I thought about a thermal wrap on it but I heard if it ever develops a leak wrapping the turbo creates fire issue. Any thoughts?

Ceramic coating is better than the wrap, but you cant remove it like the wrap...

On the turbo hot side and downpipe it is used to keep heat OUT of the engine bay more than performance boost.... prior to the turbo it is to keep the heat IN the exhaust (heat = energy, the turbo benefits from the best energy delivery possible..).
