Default Throttle problem 1500-2500rpm

Since this morning i'm having a bit of a problem.

1986 951 euro spec. The car starts fine. No probs. Idle speed just under 950rpm

But when i accelerate it only goes to 1500rpm and gets back to idle speed. When i hold my feet in the same postion the car just goes form 950-1500 and back.
When i then given full throtle nothing happens except 950-1500 etc..

I did try to drive and over i think 3000rpm all is fine. Untill you get to under lets say 2000rpm then it does the same thing 950-1500rpm

What could this be? Checked vacuum lines they are all ok.

Help..

Looks like that.

Does it hurt the cars engine or electronics to drive with the tps disconnected?

I don't know what all it does. The way I worked it, disconnecting the TPS in the garage fixed the problem. The car sat in the garage until the new TPS arrived and was installed.

Are you saying that the idle stays around 1500 rpms? Unless its the idle air control valve, Im sure its the tps. I finally figured mine out after a couple of months and what happened was the my turbo is leaking oil, the oil of course goes through the throttle body and my TB butterfly seals were done. OIl found a way into the TPS unit so when I opened it up it was filled with oil causing the random high idle. Just open your tps and see if its filled with oil.

Good advice. Disconnecting the TPS does not isolate the problem to the TPS. You could be having an ISV issue an disconnecting the TPS just prevents the ISV from being enabled by the DME.

Try disabling the ISV and see if that helps. Step 3 on the following instructions should be all you need to do that:
