Default Breaking down a '87 951 motor, need anything?

Hi,

I have a full 1987 951 motor with 97k miles that I am going to be tearing down to get some parts that I want for myself and selling the rest. The motor is still complete, so if you need parts let me know and I'll see if it's there and we can work out a price.

I have a complete shortblock, head/cam tower, oil cooler setup, intake/exhaust manifolds, 2-pc crossover, downpipe, turbo core, engine mounts, power steering pump, accessory bracket, alternator and AC compressor and assorted hoses. Also have complete clutch setup.

You may see the picture I have of a shredded turbo - that was on this engine but the cylinder walls do not appear to have been damaged by shrapnel - there are some light scratches on the cylinder walls but not deep enough to catch a fingernail. Being a 1987 block this has the spring-type auto tensioner. I am considering the possibility of building a fresh turbo motor, but I would prefer to use an early style block (manual tensioner setup). When I pull the pistons out I can take the block to SFR and have them check if it needs a re-honing, but I doubt it will.

At the very least I will be keeping the pistons/rods - turbo piping I would prefer to hang on to should I choose to go turbo down the road, but I may part with them for the right offer.

I am open to some parts trades as well. Additionally, I have a 1986 turbo transmission, open diff with cooler, installed in my car that I am considering swapping for an S2 gearbox. So if you have an S2 gearbox and want a turbo box...let's talk.

if the price is right I'll take the intake and cam tower for polishing, I'll take the turbo core, headers and x-over pipe and head if it's okay, pistons and rods, oil cooler.

Hey there.

I am looking into a need for a short block soon. Most likely my engine is toast, so I would be interested if you are going to part out the engine.
