I will give you the latest on the problem but let me answer some questions from previous posts first.

No cat. Testpipe.

CV is new and hose connections are not broken.

Wastegate hose is new as are ALL other hoses.

No codes are shown with the blinker.

Wastegate opens at 5psi. I can here it close when pressure is released. (This was done manually with car not running.)

Now for the latest news. Installed VDO boost gauge and it goes up to 8-10psi, nothing more. At 10psi the car cuts out. I am thinking the overboost protection in the KLR is malfunctioning. Another thing I found out from the previous owner was that he replaced tthe pop off valve and a leaking IC rubber connector. Prior to replacing these parts he did not experience the cutting out problem. Only after replacing the pop off valve and the IC pipe connector did the car cut out.
Interesting.

I'm going to change my guess, I had a simular problem. Once you went into boost an intercooler hose would pop. It's possible, that you have a crack that is releasing pressure or bleading off pressure somehow. Check the large hoses that go to and from the intercooler.

Off to a bday party. Oh joy..

Pop off valve? Do you mean the blow off valve? The little black valve that connects the intercooler pipe to the intake boot (before the turbo)? If you haven't replaced this with the new 993 part numbered blow off valve this might solve your problem. If all the hoses are new and solid then the next thing to look at (after the blow off valve) is the knock system. The KLR listens to the knock sensors and retards timing/boost when it hears knock occurring. If you're only boosting to 8-10 psi then it's likely that something else is wrong.
Check the blow off valve first. You should not be able to blow through any of the openings if it's working correctly. If you can blow through the openings then get a new one (with the 993.xxx.xxx part number).

Good luck!

Dal.

The problem is fixed. We have traced the problem to a faulty overboost sensor inthe KLR. I installed a KLR from another 951 and the problem did not occur. I then installed the Huntley chips in my KLR and now I get between 10-13 with no cutting off. The car runs great and I will no longer get smoked by Miatas.

No, wait! I want to change my mind again. I think it's the chip.

Glad you found it...

It WOULD mean that you win but you spelled
"overnoost" instead of overboost. I hate it when that happens......

Bret, I am not sure what they teach you guys in Arkansas, but everywhere else turbos create noost. I've never heard of your "boost".
