oil leak
Does anyone know the name and partnumber of this gasket? i think its the cause of my oil leak. Im getting oil on my crossover pipe and testpipe so its getting pretty anoying . it also looks like its dripping off of the oil pan. Could i have a leak somewhere else also?

That is not correct. What you are pointing to is the cork gasket at the rear of the cam housing. Common failure. It should be replaced (not too hard)and can be done without removing the cam housing. Search the forum for tips on what to use for gasket material, etc.

Perry 951- That would be great, how much do you want for it. Send me a PM, that would be the second time you've helped me out

Thanks for the help guys, I hope to have this oil leak fixed by next week. And a double thanks to Perry. Hey man, make sure there's no oil residue on this box

It will be there in a few days. Do not over torque the bolts when you re-install it. 15ft/lbs max, or just snug them up.

What's that thing bolted onto the lift bracket?
Also, does the lift hook go between the cork gasket and housing or outside of the gasket?
Sorry to hijack the thread!

Sean,
I didn't use a gasket on the rear cam housing. The one that came from the factory is cork and some people claim to blow through those because of boost. I used 3Bond 1211 gasketmaker/sealer and it's holding for almost 2000 miles since I re-sealed it. I hear that Yamabond is good also. It's kind of a pain in the *** to remove the rear cam housing because of the tight quarters so I didn't want to do it again in case the cork didn't hold up.
Good luck.

I think i will use the gasket for now, and if it blows out again i will use the gasketmaker. You say its boost related, i wonder what Rage2 is using?

Really, there is nothing back there other than excess oil from that last oil galley for the cam. There is a drain back hole there, perhaps that is plugged up with crap and that housing is filling with oil and blowing out the seal. If you have crankcase pressures high enough to blow that seal, then I would look into a ring issue or the crank case breather being clogged. I ran 18psi for a while and had no leaks. Crank case pressures, at least in that location, should not be that high.
There is a small vent hole on top of the PVC/EVAP unit that can be trapped.
