Exclamation waterpump

Am I in trouble, recently I have been hearing a deccelerating rattling noise front the front of the engine after it is shut off. It has 66,000km on it and am not certain about the waterpumps history.
What are the warning signs of a failing pump?
I runs cool even in unbelieveable Tokyo traffic.

Thanks for the help

Sorry I forgot to mention that the problem occurs on the 88-951. The other cars are in Canada.

If it's decelerating, might be the turbo slowing down. I can hear mine if it's really quiet, maybe the rattle means your bearings are on the way out? How long does it go for?

After I've been on the boost and shut down, I can hear mine for a few seconds just before it stops, but it's more like a rustling sound. I usually only notice it at autocross.

Edit, just re-read, it's at the front. The water pump wouldn't go for very long.

The noise comes normally when the engine is started and shut off. After a long drive I don't here it.

Where in Toronto are you from?
