loud lifter?
Hi my 86 951 is making noise from the top of motor.it happened right after i changed oil,i used amsoil 200 series 20/50 weight oil.it is only really noticable around 1200 rpm and is not consistently there?it comes and goes for a few seconds on and off.i had 2 people listen both think it is a lifter but im wondering if oil had anything to do with it.any help greatly appreciated

Hi,
I had a similar problem after I changed the oil. When I started the engine I heard a very loud noise from the top, it must have been the hydraulic lifters. Anyway, the noise disapeared after a few minutes and I have never heard it since. I think the oil ran out of the lifters in some way...or something like that...
